This summer, our Lions Club begins it's 50th
year. We are
indebted to those community minded people who established this club
and gave us the opportunity to serve others.
Lion Dick Morris leads our club as
President. Lion Dick brings a level of enthusiasm to the position
that motivates us all to be better Lions. He realizes that it takes
hard work and a real commitment to succeed to achieve the results
our club and its member’s desire.
Our club membership is a broad mix
of women and men, young and old, experienced and inexperienced.
Currently, we have 66 members. All of our members bring their
talents to the table as we look for ways to help others. We
encourage ideas for service from our members. Our younger members
are ready to set the world on fire, and our older more experienced
members suggest proven ways to accomplish their goals without
actually burning the world down.
Our club is located in Marietta, GA,
U.S.A., on the northwest corner of the metro Atlanta area.
We meet on the second and fourth
Tuesdays each month at 7 PM at Classic Gourmet restaurant which is
located in the East Lake Shopping Center on Roswell Rd (Rt120) just
outside the 120 Loop.
Please contact Lion Ray Moore at 770-425-7881 for more information.
We are an active and growing Club.
Our president for 2003-2004 was Lion Tripp Mullen, a young man who
set the club on its ear, challenging us to become more visible and
more active in our community. In 2004-05, our president was Lion
Liz Moore, our first female president. In 2005-06, our president
was Lion Ken Dumbleton, a double athletic scholar at the University
of Georgia. Last year, our president was Lion Don Garrow who
brought a quiet determination to the position. During those years,
we worked the phones for the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon,
worked up good sets of blisters on Habitat for Humanity homes,
packed lunches for a Special Olympics event, prepared and served
Meals On Wheels on Christmas Day. All in all, we were busy doing
what Lions do best, helping others.
We support, through our
contributions, the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, the Georgia
Lions Camp for the Blind, the Leader Dog program, and the Lions
Club International Foundation. All provide services for the
visually handicapped. A link to web sites for those organizations
is provided on the menu bar to the left. Please visit them to
learn more about how they benefit and enrich the lives of the
people they serve on our behalf.
